MUSIC PREVIEWS
A preview of what to expect during the schools’ winter and spring concerts was presented at Monday’s Board of Education meeting. Beacon Hill Primary Center kindergarten and first grade students, conducted by Marilyn Roche, and Forest Trail Middle School’s choir, conducted by Cecelia Palmer, sang holiday selections and Beacon Hill second grade students, conducted by Bonnie Barilow, sang “God Bless America,” which is one of the pieces that will be presented at the District wide spring concert in May.

ATTENDANCE AWARD
Mohawk Intermediate Center received the November attendance award with an average daily attendance rate of 95.85%. Other attendance rates include Algonquin, 94.38%; Blackhawk, 94.10%; Forest Trail, 94.03%, Beacon Hill, 93.70%, and 21st Century Preparatory Center, 93.25%.

WINTER BREAK EARLY DISMISSAL
Superintendent Joyce Carmine announced that the Winter Break would begin with early dismissal on December 23. Forest Trail students will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m. and the elementary school students will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. Dr. Carmine said that students would receive lunch prior to dismissal.

2005 LEVY APPROVED
The Board approved the 2005 levy, which totaled $8,730,720, which is a 1.85% increase over the previous year’s levy.

BLACKHAWK SCIENCE FAIR
Blackhawk Principal Bessie Boyd announced that the school would hold its Science Fair from 6:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 15.

WINTER CONCERTS PLANNED
Winter Concerts are scheduled for:
Forest Trail, 7:00 p.m., December 15
Blackhawk, 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., December 16
Algonquin, 7:00 p.m., December 19
Beacon Hill, December 20, time to be announced
Mohawk, 1:45 p.m., December 20, and 9:30 a.m., December 21
21st Century Preparatory Center, 1:30 p.m., December 22

ADDITIONAL BUSINESS
In additional business, the Board approved:
§ the employment of Silvia Todd, sixth grade teacher at Forest Trail, and Gwendolyn Lee, playground supervisor at Blackhawk, and the resignations of Anita Msall, seventh grade language arts teacher at Forest trial, and Beth Herris, media/technology assistant at Blackhawk.
§ the advertisement of bids for the replacement of playground equipment at Beacon Hill.
§ the use of a room at Beacon Hill by Chicago Heights Alderman Willie White for the distribution of Christmas baskets and the use of a room at 21st Century Preparatory Center for church services for Heritage of Life Covenant Church.
§ 25 additional sick days for an employee at the request of the Teachers Federation of Park Forest.
§ Business Manager Jeanette Kreuz as the District Safety Program Coordinator.
