Virginia Ford President Mrs. Ford has been a Board of Education member for 10 years. Currently the Board’s President and Chairperson of the Board’s Policy Committee, she also has served as Secretary and Vice President. Mrs. Ford has been a resident of Park Forest for 36 years and her three children attended District 163 schools. She is a Realtor with Coldwell Banker. |

Margaret McDannel Vice President Mrs. McDannel has been a Board of Education member for 10 years and has served a term as Board President. She currently serves as Board Vice President and Chairperson of the Board’s Finance Committee. Mrs. McDannel is Traffic and Security Manager for Gold Enterprise in Chicago Heights. She has been a resident of Park Forest since 1959. |

Shirley McDonald Secretary Mrs. McDonald has been a Board of Education member for five years. She is Secretary of the Board and Chairperson of the Board’s Legal Action Watch Committee, a member of the Board’s Finance Committee, and the Board’s representative to SCOPE, an educational lobbying group for the southern suburbs. Mrs. McDonald is a clinical social worker with a private practice in Park Forest. She has served as a consultant to two universities regarding their school social work programs. A resident of Park Forest for 35 years, Mrs. McDonald was a school social worker and taught social work at the University of Illinois at Chicago. |

Kim Elmore-Perkins Ms. Elmore-Perkins, and early childhood educator, was elected to the Board of Education in April 2005. She is a member of the Board’s Education Committee and she is the Board’s representative to the Illinois Association of School Boards-South Cook County. Ms. Elmore-Perkins is highly active in Park Forest as a mediator, member of her condominium association’s board, and Park Forest’s Environment Conservation Commission. Prior to her election to the Board of Education, Ms. Elmore-Perkins was active in District 163. |

Cheryl Franklin Mrs. Franklin was elected to the Board in April 2003. She is a member of the Board’s Legal Action Watch Committee, the Board’s representative to the SPEED Cooperative, and the Board’s liaison to the City of Chicago Heights. Mrs. Franklin is a school secretary in School District 169 and she is a North Regional Director of the Illinois Association of Educational Office Professionals. Mrs. Franklin is a lifelong resident of Chicago Heights. |

Sunday Umoren Sunday Umoren has been a Park Forest resident for more than 17 years. He is a Unit Director at Elisabeth Ludeman Center. A father and a grandfather, he believes that our children’s education should be our number one goal and that society must contribute and join hands in educating our children and promoting education. “Our future depends on how well we educate our children,” he said. Mr. Umoren has a bachelor’s degree from Concordia University and a master’s in psychology from the University of Nebraska. He has completed further graduate work in educational psychology at Drake University, in early childhood education at Concordia University, and in psychology and education at Forest Institute of Professionals Psychology and Aurora University. |

Melvin Pumphrey Mr. Pumphrey was appointed to the Board of Education in September 2005 to fill a vacancy. A retired retail manager, Mr. Pumphrey has been a volunteer for the past two years at the District’s Beacon Hill Primary Center. Mr. Pumphrey has been a resident of Chicago Heights for more than 20 years. He is active in the community and at Beacon Hill Baptist Church.
