ELIGIBILITY
Special education eligibility is determined by a trans-disciplinary
team of professionals bound by the regulations outlined in the Individuals
With Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Analysis of data obtained from a
comprehensive case study evaluation is used to determine special education
eligibility. Stringent criteria are applied to each student profile to assess eligibility.
SERVICES
Disabled students who qualify for special education receive service in accordance with
their needs due to the adverse impact their disability has on their educational performance.
Resource and instructional level programs are available as well as a full compliment of
related services to help students derive educational benefit from their instruction.
All eligible special education students will receive a free appropriate program of education
in the least restrictive environment.
RELATED SERVICES
A myriad of related services are available and are offered to
eligible students with identified disabilities. The District
takes pride in the highly qualified professionals on staff that
render these specialized services. Some of the related services
include:
CURRICULUM
The curriculum used in special education is a modified version
of the general education curriculum. Special education has
aligned its curriculum with general education and the Illinois
State Standards. Instruction is individualized and tailored to
the specific needs of the disabled student. Curriculum maps are
being developed to reflect the full scope and sequence of the
instruction in special education classes.
