SPEECH — LANGUAGE PATHOLOGISTS
A speech-language pathologist (SLP) is an allied health professional. Speech-language pathologists work with people who have a variety of communcation disorders.

In the school setting, speech-language pathologists help students communicate effectively with adults and peers through listening, speaking, reading and writing exercises. Therapy services are offered to promote academic success.

School districts are required to provide speech/language services to students between the ages of 3–21 who exhibit delays in one or more of the following areas:
  • Articulation
  • Speech is difficult to understand
  • Speech seems delayed for child's age
