MOS State Champs

The Michelle Obama School of Technology and the Arts boys' basketball team clinched the IESA 8th Grade Class 4A state title with a 47-33 win against Minooka last Saturday at Taylorville High School.  The Class 8-4A State Championship matchup against Quincy is set for Thursday, February 20, 2025.

The Patriots entered the State Finals with an impressive 25-3 record, finishing conference play in the South Suburban Junior High School Association (SSJHSA) undefeated at 18-0. “Our team overcame many challenges this season, showing resilience, skill, and determination. I’m extremely proud of them,” said Head Coach Drake Fryer.

With a core group returning from last year’s 7th-grade team that placed third in the State Tournament, their experience proved invaluable. “Their time on the big stage last year will help them compete for a championship,” noted Athletic Director Kevin Lawlor.

Congratulations to Coach Fryer and assistants Kevin Lawlor and Charles Carroll for leading the team to this achievement. Best of luck at the State Championship– let’s keep the momentum going!
